List of happiness: my iPhone dying at the end of my library visit and not checking my email, texts, FB, or listening to Pandora my entire trip home but instead nothing the fireflies and rabbits on my walk home from the train, spending two hours sitting in aisles of the library whittling down 10 books to 4, pad thai tofu from a restaurant I’ve never tried before (New Pot—thanks, Danna!), taking a nap and drooling all over myself while Dave screams next to me every other minute and eventually owns everyone because he’s a Cyclon, buying a six-pack of Strongbow for the weekend that is now cooling in the fridge. Future upcoming happiness: about to take a bath (thank you, Lizzie!) and read books about managing myself better at work and in life. And tomorrow morning I get to hang out with three kids who are obsessed with climbing and Sham. HUZZAH!

Shrove Tuesday! Pancakes: it’s what’s for dinner. (Taken with instagram)

People in Minnesota appear to be naturally NICE to one another!

Up since 4:30am because Sham trains at 5. Load of laundry started. Emails from work and personal accounts answered. Vivi cuddled. Now to drag myself to the kitchen to tackle the sink full of tuperware that has taken up occupation since the great fridge leftovers removal project of February 2011. Then switching laundry to drier and folding clothes as time permits.

(This all sounds absolutely dreadful as I am currently lying in bed under the covers with V asleep on my leg, by the way.)

Edit: Did it! Feel 150% better about all aspects of my life as a result. Hoping the load of tuperware is done by the time I need to leave at 7:30 so I can load in the actual bowls, cups, and plates.

To do also: shower, second load of dishwasher, take out trash on way work

Tonight: bank, grocery store, climbing wall, chipotle, drop off library books, pack, cat prep!

For Valentine’s Day Sham argued with United for 45 minutes and got us back $538!

Thank you for everything, my best friend.

“Ohayo!” (Taken with instagram)

I just spent the last 15 minutes of my train commute texting with Sham about shoes I am going to buy.

Last night I dreamt that we went to a party that David Beckham also attended. He spread a picnic blanket on the ground but the colors of it are the same as my winter coat (red and white) so in the dream the blanket morphed into my coat. He noticed spots of dirt on it and ignored my exclamation and explanation that if I were to wash it, it would be clean, I swear!!!! Why you gotta judge, dream David Beckham?

Green-line train? Packed because another train broke down. My work computer? Error message when I logged on so it had to be diagnosed and rebuilt all day. Our toilet? Running again and I do not want to catch it—I will never want to catch it! If Sham can’t fix it tonight, I’m calling the super plumber tomorrow. Again. This is why one should not buy toilets based on looks/design, previous owners. Bless you savvy, stylish hearts.

japan trip planning is coming together!

done in the past few months: tokyo hotel booked, great tokyo cycling tour booked, ryokan in the mountains near bouldering booked.

working on must-see tokyo list. sadly due to the sumo scandal, watching a tournament match or even training is off the table. so to make it up to sham, we are going to go to Disneyland Tokyo with a starlight pass!

found a rental car website in English, so booking a prius with gps to drive from tokyo to the ryokan in the mountains. then a few days later we’ll drive to odawara where we will drop-it off. just need to book that tonight!

left to plan is the last week of travel: we would like to go to hakone, kyoto, and osaka. we also want to visit sham’s friend in seoul, so i’m not booking any part of this plan until we coordinate with him and his wife. hopefully they will travel in japan with us a little too before we need to return to tokyo.

done the past few days: got sham’s international drivers permit from aaa and purchased our 7-day japan rail passes from travel agency at mitsuwa market.

so much done; so much more to do!
